It is cultivated in South America, with the essential oil being produced mainly in Brazil. Copaiba essential oil has a warm, woody fragrance and blends well with floral essential oils. It is balsamic, antibacterial, disinfectant and diuretic. In skin care preparations Copaiba balsam is used mainly for the treatment of haemorrhoids.
